Sources and fact-checking policy

This page explains how Nyayapalika checks facts and shows its sources before publishing.

Primary sources first

  • Court judgments, orders, cause lists and notices
  • Official documents of Parliament, ministries and constitutional bodies
  • Acts, rules and the Constitution as published by the Nepal Law Commission
  • Direct statements from the people or bodies concerned

How we check facts

  • Names, positions, dates, case numbers, legal provisions and amounts are checked against the original source.
  • Important facts are confirmed by at least two independent, reliable sources.
  • We make clear whether a court decision is interim, procedural or final.
  • A claim we cannot confirm is removed or described as unconfirmed.

Other outlets’ reporting

Reporting by other media is used only as a lead or for background, and is credited and linked in the sources section. We do not use their text or photographs without permission.

The sources section

Every news article ends with a “Sources” section that lists primary sources and other reporting separately.
